Route goes through the historic old town of Arvada and along
the bike trail following the picturesque tree-lined Ralston
Creek. You will see the old flour mill, the water tower and old
homes from the Victorian era through the 1950's, antique shops,
a German bakery (excellent) as well as many other unique shops.
10 Km route only includes Arvada Cemetery. |

Route goes through an urban wilderness along the
beautiful Sand Creek Regional Greenway, a soft-surface trail
that follows a high-plains stream lined with cottonwoods and
willows. 10Km walk visits Sand Creek Park with its water
features and natural areas. Center staff will share info on
botany and wildlife. |

Trail is on city streets and hike/bike trails. It follows
Boulder Creek and goes through the historic Chautauqua Park,
past the Chautauqua Theatre, Dining Hall (at times open for
lunch) and past many old cabins from the 1920's. This park is a
lovely place for a picnic lunch. You will also visit the "funky"
Pearl St. Mall, walk through a small portion of the University
of Colorado, and some lovely residential areas. Pets are not
allowed on the Pearl St. Mall. |

Walk will be on paved/dirt streets and pathways through town
and along the Blue River passing several museums and the Rotary
Snowplow Train Park. The altitude of 9600 feet affects the
difficulty rating. Mountain conditions can change rapidly.
Sunscreen and raingear are recommended. Pets are not allowed in
buildings. |

The walk takes you through our beautiful and historic
downtown, past the Capitol Building, city gardens, the 16th St.
Mall, Sakura Square, Coors Field and along the Cherry Creek and
Platte River Bike Trails. |

Event is mostly flat with some curbs and includes
Observatory Park, a few smaller parks, and the University of
Denver, founded in 1864, the oldest independent university in
the Rocky Mountain region and the campus is designated as an
arboretum. U.S. News and World Report ranks DU among the top 100
universities in the nation and houses the Iliff School of
Theology, including historic landmark Evans Chapel and the
Newman Center for the Performing Arts. The DU Pioneers are known
for becoming the 2004 and 2005 (back-to-back) National Champions
in college hockey. |

| Denver - Washington / Cheesman Parks |
The 11 Km event will include Washington Park, Cheesman Park,
several smaller city parks, and a short stretch in front of the
Denver Botanical Gardens. The optional 4 km will be a complete
loop around Washington Park (it's really scenic). |

Wheelchair volksmarchers can get credit for 3K on the canyon
overlook 6 Km route, which is handicapped accessible. The 6 Km
trail is rated 2 because of the trail on the 2nd half. The 11 km
is all on dirt paths and rock traverses with significant hills. |

Trail is on streets and dirt roads., where you'll wander
this old west mining town and historic district with its quaint
shops and 1800's Victorian architecture. This entire valley is
designated the Georgetown-Silver Plume National Historic
Landmark District. The 10k route takes you through town and up
to the Georgetown Loop Railway. The 5k route wanders through
this charming town but does not go up to the train. |

This walk takes you through the main street of Golden,
"Where the West Lives", and several museums. You will also enjoy
bike trails and walk through the Colorado School of Mines campus
with its beautiful natural stone buildings dating from the 19th
century. |

Exit at Hwy 287 (Broomfield/Lafayette) and take a right onto Hwy
287 North. Continue 6 miles to Hwy 7 East (Baseline Road).
Proceed 0.7 miles to traffic light at corner of Baseline and
Public Road. Mojo's on the right corner. Please don't park in
Mojo's small lot. Parking available on street (watch for
restricted areas) or behind the Rec Center across Baseline.

Route is a combination of paved and soft-surface
walking/biking trails through open space and city parks and the
charming historic town center. Lots of opportunities to peek in
shops or stop in a cafe along Main St in this former mining
town. Pretty mountain views and good bird watching (especially
hawks) during winter. |

Trail is on the streets of this small historic town and on
walking/biking trails. There are many restaurants and small
interesting shops. Plan to have either breakfast or lunch while
you're in town. You'll walk through a wonderful bird habitat;

You'll enjoy a leisurely walk through Vail Village, the
Nature Center and the Betty Ford Gardens, and along the area's
bike paths. You'll find many shops and restaurants to be
explored in this lovely "Bavarian"-styled village. |
